Back in the U.S.

Upon returning there is SO MUCH to do after stepping out of the country for year,
but gorgeous skies keep happening and as long as I get up early enough, they share it all with me.  It's cool, windy and I wear a sweatshirt to begin each day, here in Spanish Fork.  Such a change...
There's not much to report so far.  Because I've scanned in most of the illustrations completed in Korea, I'm going to start using this blog now, because the books are one of my main points of focus.  Thank heavens, everything arrived in one piece after the flight.
As I've mentioned repeatedly, my son is marrying an gorgeous human being,
inside and out, Karli Hall.  He lets her choose his clothes and diet and I've never seen him so smitten.  It's absolutely adorable!
She's tall, unpretentious, ridiculously talented and totally classy,
as are her mom, Michelle, and sister, Karoline.
We met last week and I've got a whole new reason
to be excited about this wedding.
Michelle's like a short, vintaged version of her daughter, and
I am so looking forward to spending time with her!
The air and weather will be sweet
and beautiful for their wedding in a month--it already is.
Just walked outside and already
a hint of Autumn pervades.
Tom and Marji grew an extraordinarily fruitful
crop of spaghetti squash this year,
so if you'd like, one, please let us know!

While in Korea

Thanks for visiting my website/blog and while I'm in Korea I'll be updating Candy Corn and Spiders the most frequently. My most recent post is here: http://joannasakievich.blogspot.kr/2012/09/did-i-mention-that-director-at-my.html?showComment=1347145723587#c310579846946607048 For those of you who are more net savvy, I beg your patience! I'm currently working on a children's book when not doing lesson prep for 30 classes a week or checking out the scenery where I live. And I'm so grateful I didn't end up in a bigger city, because I LOVE where I am! This is a photo from along my daily walking trail, which is just minutes from my apartment, surrounded by buildings.
These walks are a favorite part of my day, but new friends are giving me more views which I'll have to bring my camera for. But contrast that mountainous scene (and green mountains and water are everywhere!) with this view from my balcony window, hmmm?
Anyway, I've written 2 poems since getting here because I'm so inspired by surroundings, including the plethora of wild flowers, like pumpkin blossoms--they're everywhere. Come October, Linus would love it here!

That's My Room!

This a mural in what was, That's My Room of Sugarhouse, Utah. Jon and Aimee are the owners of this now completely on-line fabulous store (www.thatsmyroomutah.com) and I'm looking forward to doing more with them in the future! Painting is "what I do," which makes it a sort of therapy as well :-)
