A few January evenings ago, I...Agreed, dear Joanna! A few January evenings ago, I was anxious to get Sammy, my Yellow Lab, back in the house so we could go to bed. But snow was falling gently, and Sammy, seemingly transfixed, looked pleadingly my way as if to ask for a few more minutes to enjoy the moment. What followed next cemented the memory for life: I stepped outside, PJ's and all, to join her in gazing on the wintry scene. Most of the five or ten minutes we spent crouching there together on the porch, I simply looked at her looking at the falling snow illuminated by lamplight. It was pure magic.
